Gruppo Mastrotto goes shopping and acquires Portuguese Coindu

Gruppo Mastrotto goes shopping and strengthens its investment in the automotive sector with the acquisition of Coindu (Componentes Para A Indústria Automóvel). The Vicenza-based group – as stated in a statement published online – has taken over the majority stake in the Portuguese company, “through a capital injection aimed at supporting the relaunch of the company”. Coindu designs and produces of high-quality leather and fabric automotive interiors. In particular, it specializes in the manufacture of seat covers and car interiors, “with distinctive processes and finishes”.

“The acquisition allows Coindu to become part of a leading leather group, strengthening its financial and operational stability”, the press note reads. “For Gruppo Mastrotto, the transaction represents an important step toward vertical integration. In fact, this transaction increases the company’s ability to provide complete solutions for automotive interiors, further consolidating its competitive position in the global market”.

Portuguese Coindu

Last May we had announced the acquisition of Coindu’s manufacturing plant in Arad, Romania by the Germany-based Bader group (as you can read here). Now, this new sale is aimed at revitalizing the company. At the corporate management level, however, the Gomes family, until now at the helm of the Portuguese entity, “will maintain a minority stake in Coindu,” the press note specifies. The current management will continue to play a strategic role in the company after the sale. Antonio Candido, CEO of Coindu, will remain in charge with specific operational delegations, reporting directly to shareholders.

Synergy and know-how

“This strategic agreement is in line with our growth plans“, says Chiara Mastrotto, president of Gruppo Mastrotto, “strengthening our downstream integration and allowing us to capture synergies in terms of both revenues and cost structure. By combining our skills with those of Coindu, we will enhance our value proposition and offer increasingly advanced solutions for the automotive sector“. “Thanks to these synergies, we will be able to offer an integrated service to our customers and respond even more effectively to market needs. By improving our production capabilities and technical know-how”, adds Antonio Candido, “Coindu will maintain its brand, its innovative production strategy and its independence in the market”.
