The former mainly handles chemicals for tanning leather for upholstery and car interiors, whereas the latter focuses their manufacturing on footwear and luxury accessories. A few weeks after the closing of the agreement between BASF and Stahl, Dutch Smit & zoon has bought out Codyeco, an Italian company headquartered in Santa Croce upon Arno, controlled by Star Capital fund. “Codyeco will benefit from our global network – points out Hans von Haarst, Ceo at Smit & zoon -. I am confident that together we will stand out with good performances in all of the market segments”. After purchasing the Italian company, the Dutch group aims to merge their portfolio of products, thus expanding in the tanning industry, and to foster investments in sustainability.
