Germany and Spain are just the beginning. After those, Pre-Owned, Zalando’s 2nd hand market will also open in Belgium, France, Poland and the Netherlands. Announced in February, “the new offering focuses on clients that want to make purchases – explains the German e-tailer’s HQ -, as well as those looking to sell used goods in return for credits”.
2nd hand market
The Pre-Owned service allows subscribers to sell their used products on Zalando. The procedure is managed by the Germany-based HQ, where the goods are checked for quality and then catalogued so that users can view them online. These 2nd hand products use Zalando’s shipping, payment options and return options. After the sale, we were saying, those that sent the products in receive a credit to be spent on the platform. Aletratively, they can choose to donate the amount to two organizations: the Red Cross in Germany or WeForest.
Why to bet on it
“The interest in fashion’s 2nd hand product is already high and keeps on growing – commented Torben Hansen, Zalando’s VP for e-commerce -. At the same time, clients are missing a service that is fast and trustworthy, one which combines the ease of reselling items no longer worn with a pleasing online experience that allows them to show for other 2nd hand products. By launching Pre-Owned, we are the first to offer such complete solution and answer the needs of the clients on such scale”.
