“Health security of our customers and staff remains the top priority”. Therefore, it is on this assumption that APLF moves the fair to June 1-3, 2020: the caution imposed by the ongoing Coronavirus epidemic is put before the needs of the show. Following up on an already ventilated possibility, Informa Markets, the company that organises the Hong Kong event, decided to postpone the appointment, initially scheduled from March 31 to April 2. “The choice is in line with the efforts of the Hong Kong government to control and limit the spread of the epidemic – communicates the fair organisation -. It comes after the World Health Organization declared the onset of the virus a global health emergency”.
APLF moves the fair
The news, we said, does not come out of the blue: it was in the air. At the end of January APLF, faced with the increasing international alarm on the consequences of Coronavirus, had communicated that it was “monitoring developments”. A few days later, at the beginning of February, news of the possibility of postponing dates bounced from Hong Kong: if circumstances had required it, summarising the meaning of the message, Informa Markets would not hesitate to postpone the event. “We consider alternative plans – they wrote -. Among these, there’s the possibility of postponing APLF at a later date in 2020”. Now, the verdict has come: the Hong Kong appointment is moved to June 1-3.
