Pitti, Cuoio di Toscana alongside Marine Serre with the CDT Prize

Cuoio di Toscana accompanied Marine Serre‘s debut as Guest Designer at Pitti Uomo 106. The Consortium supported the French designer for her fashion show on 12 June in Fiesole, just outside Florence. At the centre of the collaboration was a special passport cover (pictured) that served as an invitation to the fashion show. A leather accessory with the brand’s iconic moons spray-printed using stencils. The association’s presence alongside one of the most promising designers of the moment, who has made creative upcycling her hallmark, can only reaffirm the role of leather as a material in the future of fashion.

Leather and Marine Serre

“Since 2021, we have been supporting young talents through the CDT Prize, with the aim of enhancing creativity and raising awareness on the importance of a quality, made-in-Italy product such as our leather”, says Antonio Quirici, president of Cuoio di Toscana, in a note. “This collaboration testifies to the raw material’s ability to respond to innovation from a sustainable perspective, which is essential for the future of the sector”. Serre attaches particular importance to this aspect. “Recycled and upcycled materials are at the heart of our design process”, said the designer. “Today, about 50% of our collections are made from recycled products”.

Pitti Uomo 106 initiatives involving Cuoio di Toscana do not end here. The Consortium has also moved to support the eighth edition of S|Style, an exhibition project by Fondazione Pitti Discovery in exclusive partnership with Kering Material Innovation Lab (Kering MIL). S|Style, launched in 2020, has as its objective “the valorisation of a generation of international fashion designers with a solid culture of responsibility behind them”. Every year, ten brands that stand out for their social and environmental commitment are selected from around the world by journalist and curator Giorgia Cantarini. The Consortium has supplied its footwear to the talented protagonists.
