Statements by Antonio Tajani (Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation), to reiterate the meaning of the governmental project of the Days of Italian Fashion in the World. Speeches by Toni Belloni, president of LVMH Italy, and Alessandra Gritti, CEO of Tamburi Investment Partners, on the topic of the value of the Italian supply chain. The record number of exhibitors at Milano Unica (in photo from Imagoeconomica), which opened the doors of its 40th edition on Feb. 4 (ends Feb. 6), did so with confidence.
Positive signs from Milano Unica
Milano Unica 40 (trade show for high-end fabrics and accessories) presents the Spring/Summer 2026 collections based on the Land creative concept at Fiera Milano Rho. A stylistic mood that allows for “the awareness that the search for new material opportunities goes hand in hand with the rediscovery of inner harmony”. Meanwhile, the show makes “an absolute record of exhibitors (723) in its 20-year history”, as stated in a note. Very high adhesions, then, which send signals of confidence to an industry that – like everyone else – came out of 2024 with enough broken bones. “The 2024 final balance, drawn up by the Confindustria Moda Studies Office, in fact, sees a drop in both the turnover achieved on the domestic market (-5.2%) and on foreign markets (-8.5%), with some important exceptions”.
Tajani, Belloni, Gritti
Connected remotely, Tajani stated that “we are working on a reform inside MAECI”. The goal: “To create a Directorate General dedicated exclusively to growth and exports, so that there is a structure that is appropriate to the times”. Inevitable, as well as obvious, is the reference to the hot topic of the moment: tariffs. “A trade war doesn’t benefit anyone. We must dialogue with the new U.S. administration and avert damage to the business system. Italy can be an excellent bridge”, and doing it “also on behalf of Europe”. Having closed the link with Tajani, the floor passed to Belloni and Gritti. Focus of their speeches: support for the supply chain and the “need to rethink the value equation“.
