Cuoio di Toscana makes its debut at Milan Fashion Week. And it does so with Twenty21, the consortium’s creative project on the catwalk on February 24. It is a real collection that enhances leather: an exclusive selection of garments, shoes and accessories dedicated to famous heroines of recent Italian history. From Oriana Fallaci to Anna Magnani, from Grazia Deledda to Rita Levi Montalcini, passing through Nilde Iotti and Alda Merini. Simone Guidarelli, creative director of the project, has chosen protagonists of the tricolour’s genius to transfer a strong identity to the capsule collection. Master craftsmen in the circuit of the Consortium had the collection entirely hand-made in Tuscany.
Twenty21
A soft trench coat, an ultra-feminine skirt, an elegant shirt dress. Then an original hatbox, iconic leather-rimmed glasses, sophisticated belts, it bags, printed boots and the timeless double-buckle monk. For the first time leather, usually destined for the manufacture of shoe soles, becomes a non-woven fabric with which to mould clothes and accessories. To obtain the capsule, with a sustainable soul, a complex process, such as the tailoring construction typical of garments, was applied to the leather.
Breaking the mould
“We are honoured to be present on Milan Woman Fashion Week’s calendar with a highly innovative project – says Antonio Quirici, Cuoio di Toscana’s president-. Thanks to Simone Guidarelli and our wonderful craftsmen, we have made an impossible dream come true by applying processes, treatments and prints traditionally reserved for clothing and linked to the genius loci to leather. Our mission is to break the mould with original creative solutions in design and high quality ones relaunching the centrality of women as the driving force of our extraordinary country”. The Twenty21 collection by Cuoio di Toscana will be available from March 2021 on prestigious fashion e-shops.
