Adidas dedicates to Toni Kroos the leather shoes he loved so much

He chose them, loved them and has never abandoned them. That’s why the Adidas 11 PRO football boots are now called TK PRO. The German sportswear company has dedicated to German champion Toni Kroos, who has just played his last tournament with the national team before retiring, the footwear with which he has played continuously since 2013. Footwears that he never gave up because of the quality of touch that the leather uppers afforded him.

The dedication to Toni Kroos

Kroos announced his farewell to playing football at the age of 34. And he did so on the strength of a very rich palmarès: three times German champion with Bayern Munich, four times Spanish champion with Real Madrid and, above all, six times European champion with both clubs. Not forgetting the World Cup, just to stay at the most prestigious medals, lifted with Germany in 2014. Kroos has collected a large part of all these successes while wearing the same model of Adidas shoes on his feet. As in an in-depth report by The Athletic tells: indifferent to all the marketing opportunities that the sponsorship with Adidas offered, from 2013 the strong German midfielder onwards only wanted to take to the pitch in the 11 Pro.

The value of leather

Significantly, among the reasons why Kroos fell in love with the 11 Pro was the leather upper. The now former player appreciated the softness of the material, explains Adidas Global product manager Bjorgvin Hreinsson, which guarantees naturalness and sensitivity when touching the ball. All those pressurising sports brands to abandon leather in favour of synthetic should take this into account: champions don’t need slogans, they need quality.
