Bottega Veneta is the revelation brand of 2019, says Lyst. The Year in Fashion 2019 report shows how sustainability and inclusion are the key themes of the year.

In 2019, Bottega Veneta climbed 21 positions in Lyst rankings, entering for the first time in the Top 20 of the most desired brands. Behind the Italian brand are, among others, Pyer Moss, Jacquemus, Paco Rabanne, Molly Goddard, Richard Quinn, Saks Potts, Telfar.

To draw up the Year in Fashion report, Lyst has monitored 200 million online searches globally. The analysis considered keywords, sales data, pages viewed and mentions on social media for over 6 million fashion products. The research involved over 12,000 single-brand and multi-brand e-commerce in the January-November 2019 period.
Between old and new
According to Lyst, users spent on average 192 dollars for a new pair of sneakers, or 39% more than last year. 2019 sneaker is the one signed by Alexander McQueen. But there was also the return of 90s fashion icons. The search for bags adorned with pearls, for example, has increased significantly. Among the products, the Fendi baguette bag has seen a 164% increase in searches. Moreover, great attention from the public, for the clogs revisited by Maria Grazia Chiuri for Dior, the Teva sandals, the jelly shoes and the Dr. Martens.
Accessories
Among the most sought after items of 2019 there are also ‘The Pouch’ bag and Stretch sandals by Bottega Veneta, the belt with the GG logo, Le Chiquito handbag by Jacquemus. The global trend is that of “mini bags” (+50% in visualisations during summer).
And 2020?
We must expect a Japan-mania on the wave of the Olympic games, and the return of big bags, predicts Lyst. The brands to watch for 2020, based on growth over the past six months, are: Rotate Birger Christensen, GCDS, Alyx, Marine Serre and Cecilie Bahnsen.
