Francesco Murano, wins CNMI Fashion Trust Grant with leather

Katy Perry brings good luck to Francesco Murano. The designer from Buccino (Salerno) is, in fact, one of the four winners of the fourth edition of the CNMI Fashion Trust Grant. That is, the project with which Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana supports emerging brands. Murano presented a collection in which leather plays a leading role. The international jury, which awards the most innovative and sustainable projects, recognised the talent of the designer from Campania.

The CNMI Fashion Trust Grant

Andreādamo, Lorenzo Seghezzi, Niccolò Pasqualetti and Francesco Murano are the four winners, out of 10 finalists, of the CNMI Fashion Trust Grant. Each of them will receive 50,000 euros for brand development. The winners will also receive strategic consulting from Italian fashion experts, starting next June. Murano was not the only one to make leather stand out. For example, another winner, Niccolò Pasqualetti also used “paper effect leather”. Murano created a collection in collaboration with Lineapelle and Camera Moda Fashion Trust, which was presented last February at the Fashion Hub during Milan Fashion Week.

What does Katy Perry have to do with it

“The garments are mainly made with jersey and leather. I put particular emphasis on the latter, making it super-thin to bring it closer to jersey. Furthermore”, the designer explains to Vogue, “I also tried to make the clothes as if they were leather goods, to give them that sense of eternity in time”. So, what’s Katy Perry got to do with it? The famous American pop star wore a bustier and a pair of leather gloves designed by Francesco Murano during the 22 April 2024 episode of the talent show American Idol.
