From the academy to home design, there are a few new things for Furla

There are a few new things for Furla. The first is tied to the internal academy in Tavernelle (fraction of Barberino Tavarnelle near Florence). The company has a production site nearby, which employs 140 people. Furla decided to manage its generational change by itself. Furla’s development also includes an increase in revenue. For this reason, the new CEO Giorgio Presca, thought about brand extension: entering the interior furniture design.

New things for Furla

“Circularity and durability are fundamental for our products”, says Presca to Repubblica. In the same interview, the CEO announced the creation of the Furla Academy, which will train future artisans. In the Tavernelle plant, Furla manufactures the Unica handbag, which according to the manager, “represents the apex of a long process. And together with Cyclica, we thought of using the leather we source from a controlled chain, which starts with European livestock farms. This will allow us to ensure traceability of the leather, which will be vegetable tanned with the wastewater of the olive oil production process. The result is a compostable and biodegradable leather: maximum expression of sustainability”.

Furla Home’s made in Italy

Furla grew 10% in 2022. Presca plans to reach its pre-pandemic targets by between 2-3 years. That’s why the brand strategy incorporates the so-called brand extensions. And so, the brand lands on the interior design segment with a decade-long licensing agreement with Magnificat. The agreement includes the development, production and distribution of Furla Home’s collections. The debut will be at Salone del Mobile in Milano (from April 18 to 23). Magnificat, company headquartered in Hong Kong, generates about 20 million in revenue and employs 32 people. The production of the Furla Home collection will be developed with the use of 8 companies located in Lombardy, Veneto, Tuscany, and Marche. “Others will join in when Furla Home’s collections will grow”, states Alessio Sghinolfi, CEO of Magnificat, to Il Sole 24 Ore.
