Jil Sander appeals to OTB. In fact, according to rumours spreading from Milan to New York, the group, led by Renzo Rosso (in the picture by Imagoeconomica), has been privately negotiating with Onward Holdings, which is the owner of the brand. Following Moncler (which has bought out Stone Island) and Exor (which has taken over Shang Xia), likewise OTB is allegedly about to make its own move to expand.

The news has been reported by WWD. While talking to the magazine, OTB did not confirm the rumours but made clear, anyway, they are firmly planning to expand by carrying out some business acquisitions. “We are actually considering several opportunities and focusing on a few companies currently on the market – they pointed out in a press release –. We aim to augment our critical mass”. The US magazine has gone beyond it by writing that Japanese Onward Holdings have reportedly appointed Nomura as a consultant to negotiate exclusively with OTB.
The group
At present the portfolio managed by OTB (Only The Brave) includes Diesel, Maison Margiela, Marni, and Viktor & Rolf brands alongside a minority shareholding in Amiri. Besides that, OTB also own Staff International and Brave Kids production companies. As regards Jil Sander, it is currently controlled by Onward Holdings Co., an apparel group listed at the Tokyo Stock Exchange, which bought the brand in 2008. For the records, the business was founded in Germany, in 1968, by the homonymous fashion designer and was controlled by Prada from 1999 till 2006. At present Luke and Lucie Meier are the creative directors of the fashion house.
