A meeting that, in some ways, resembles more than just sharing views and programs. Kering knocks at MIMIT, the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy, where last February 26 Minister Adolfo Urso welcomed the CEO of the French giant, François-Henri Pinault. Topic of discussion? Obvious: the criticality of the Italian luxury and fashion supply chain. That supply chain that (also) for Kering is much more than strategic. It’s essential.
Kering knocks at MIMIT’s door
“The consolidation of the fashion supply chain in Italy. The challenges of the sector in a global context of great changes. New consumption habits. Trade tensions. These are just some of the topics addressed during the meeting” (source MIMIT/Public Policy). For his part, Urso “stressed the importance and attention that the Italian government is giving to the fashion sector”. And he “outlined the next initiatives that will be put in place to support such a strategic sector for Made in Italy. The minister recalled that, for 2025, MIMIT has allocated 250 million euros to the sector via contracts and mini-contracts for development, resources aimed at the ecological and digital transition and the promotion of sustainability”.
Kering at the table in Milan
A significant meeting for a thousand reasons that are easy to guess. Starting with the one related to the economic stress afflicting luxury and, in particular, some of Kering’s house brands. One, above all, Gucci, a brand on which a significant share of Italian manufacturing gravitates, starting with leather goods and its suppliers. It thus sounds further significant that, on the sidelines of this meeting, MIMIT let it be known that “some of the Kering group’s brands will participate in the meeting promoted by Minister Urso, scheduled in the coming weeks in Milan, together with the main exponents of the fashion supply chain. During this moment of discussion, an overview of the health of the sector will be made, as well as a presentation of measures to support the sector” (source MIMIT/Public Policy).
