Italy buys a little piece of France: at Benetton 72 million for a share in Hermès

We are used to reading news that points the other way round: giants from beyond the Alps that purchase our excellent products. But in this case, it’s the opposite. Through the Edizione holding company, the Benetton family, with an investment of 72 million euro, has acquired 0.21% of Hermès, the French luxury brand. The group from Veneto, which closed its 2015 financial statement with a consolidated net profit of 1.6 billion (thanks to the sale of World Duty Free), also bought 0.13% of L Brands, the US network that owns brands such as Victoria’s Secret and several North American retail chains. Indeed, there is an Italy that does its shopping abroad.
