Watch straps come together: second acquisition for Rochet Group

New acquisition for Rochet Group. The French company, founded in 1908, specialises in the manufacture of watch straps (in leather and other materials) and leather goods. It has bought Sibra, a leading manufacturer of original equipment watch straps. This is the second acquisition after Bouveret in 2021. But Rochet Group CEO Charles Brunet has already put another deal in the pipeline for next year. The aim is to concentrate and strengthen French production of watch straps and bracelets.

The second acquisition of Rochet Group

Gérard Simon founded the Simon leather watch strap workshop in 1990. A year later the entrepreneur concluded an agreement with Patrick Brunet, who then headed Rochet Group. The agreement gave birth to Sibra, based in Besançon. Later, the two partners also created Sibrama, which still mass-produces leather bracelets in India. Gérard planned to retire this year and turned to Rochet Group, now led by Charles Brunet, Patrick’s son. “With Sibra, we will strengthen our presence in the medium segment and in the original equipment market for watch brands”, Brunet himself explains.

Sibra Bouveret Manufacture

The first operation concerns Bouveret. Specialising in the production of custom-made luxury bracelets, the company will form a single entity with Sibra called Sibra Bouveret Manufacture. In a note on Linkedin, Brunet explains that the Rochet Group’s development path (85 employees worldwide and 1 million watch straps sold per year) will not stop. In other words: new acquisitions will be announced for 2025.
