Christian Louboutin will be awarded with the Couture Council Award for Artistry of Fashion 2019. It was announced by The Museum of Fashion Institute of Technology (MFIT) in New York, which celebrates every year “those personalities who have distinguished themselves for their artistic contribution in the fashion field”. In this sense, therefore, “Louboutin has been chosen for his permanent dedication to art and craftsmanship”, reads the official note issued by the institution chaired by MFIT director, Valerie Steele. The award ceremony will take place on September 4th. “Being awarded by the Museum in the context of the FIT Couture Council is a great honour – comments Louboutin -. My projects are rooted in Paris, but I am fortunate enough to benefit from the most specialised crafts in the world and this allows me to expand my creative boundaries, celebrating inclusiveness and self-determination through cultural exchange”. Louboutin thus enters the group of those who received the Couture Council Award for Artistry of Fashion, being in excellent company, given that in the past it was attributed to Narciso Rodriguez (2018), Thom Browne (2017), Albert Kriemler of Akris (2016), Manolo Blahnik (2015), Carolina Herrera (2014), Michael Kors (2013), Oscar de la Renta (2012), Valentino (2011), Karl Lagerfeld (2010), Dries Van Noten (2009), Isabel Toledo (2008), Alber Elbaz (2007), and Ralph Rucci (2006). In 2008 Giorgio Armani was honoured with the special award for Global Fashion Leadership.
