Puma have launched its first “augmented reality” sneaker. The name given to the new shoe model is LQD Cell Origin AR. The upper is fully covered with QR 2D codes: once you have them scanned, by using the LQD Cell Puma app, which is available on your App Store and Google Play, you will be able to experience an augmented reality (AR), including games, filters and fun effects. In example given, customers will see the way shoes look like when they take them apart. Furthermore, users may also “seize” their experience and share it with others. Such sneakers first make use of a brand new technology, namely the Poli LQD Cell: according to the company, it makes shoes “more compact and flexible” thanks to a cushion effect deriving from the employment of Profoam hexagonal cells. “Aiming to tackle a changing world, where boundaries between reality and virtual reality are turning hazier and hazier, Puma decided to implement the LQD Cell Origin AR”, pointed out the brand in a press release. They are manufacturing these shoe models in limited edition.
