An historic piece of Riviera del Brenta has ceased to exist. Tribunale di Venezia (provincial Court) officially declared that footwear manufacturer Ballin Franco e C. as bankrupt. The company had been, for many years, a shining example of manufacturing excellence for the entire local footwear district. The crisis, unfortunately, left it with no options.

On Wednesday January 20th, Daniela Bruni, judge with the bankruptcy section of the Tribunale di Venezia, wrote the last word for footwear manufacturer Ballin Franco. The sentence followed the request made by the Guardia di Finanza (financial policing entity). The company, headquartered in Fiesso d’Artico, is an institution of the Venice district.

Franco Ballin, current president of the Politecnico Calzaturiero and past president of ACRIB, founded his company in the mid-70s after having learned the business in the enterprise owned by hid brother-in-law. The site manufactures its own collections and collaborates with some of the most prestigious fashion brands, both Italian and international ones. And more, it also had licenses to distribute some of them. Just 5 years ago the company had opened the Corte della Pelle division to reach end-consumers directly via its own stores, in Italy and abroad.
