The premiumization of Adidas: Samba in leather and made in Italy

If the premiumization of Adidas is the currently applied one, so be it! The sports brand has launched a new model of the Samba sneaker: made in Italy and made with leather. This model stands as a candidate to be the most expensive shoe in Adidas’ history, classifying itself in the premium segment.

The premiumization of Adidas

After the black Samba with crocodile texture (also Made in Italy), Adidas raised the quality level of its flagship model again. And still in Italy it produces a new premium version, the “Vachetta Tan“. This model features a hand-polished calfskin leather upper with a leather lining from Italy. According to Adidas, the shoe was made using the baggy technique. The shoes are then finished with hand-painted details, writes Footwear News.

Nothing to chance

Sneakers travel in a special “Made in” box, complete with two pouches, one for the left shoe and one for the right. This luxurious version of the Samba, made in Italy from Italian materials, costs $350, while the standard Samba OG models retails for $100. The Vachetta Tan thus surpasses JJJound’s version of the Samba made in Germany ($250 price tag). Highsnobiety celebrates how the German brand is making a collection of sumptuous Samba sneakers from Italy. Now, a new step upward: who knows what else is in store.
