Italian leather, customers from all over the world. In the DNA of the young British leather goods brand Duclos, there is also a bit of Bel Paese. Its founder, Aimee Duclos, has recently started selling, already intercepting the appreciation of customers who live on the other side of the world. How? With an ultra-personalised online service.
Discovering leather
“Since I was a child, I have had a passion for fashion and accessories – says the young entrepreneur on the company portal -. After art school, I nourished my creative vein by studying at the UAL. At the London College of Fashion I specialised in the design and development of leather goods. During this period, I worked in the design teams of the most famous luxury brands”. At the end of her studies, Duclos set out to discover the world of leather. Once back, she launched her own brand of bags and accessories.
Italian leather
“I make sure all my raw materials are the best I can get my hands on – explains Duclos to thewestmorlandgazette.co.uk -. I use a special leather, Saffian, which comes from Tuscany. I also order brass components from Italy”. The young entrepreneur has her products-to-order. It receives orders exclusively through its web portal, where customers can choose the components, colours and type of shoulder strap they prefer. They can also personalise the item with a monogram. “I like to have an email or social media conversation with customers about their orders – she adds – including updating them with photos as I create their products”. And so, in a short time, requests from Australia and Kuala Lumpur began to arrive along with orders from local customers.
