“Thanks to UNIC – Italian Tanneries, a new partnership will will lead towards the construction of the new Hospital that Fondazione Stella Maris is about to build in the Cisanello area in Pisa”. Those are the words of Giuliano Maffei, president of Stella Maris, “a dynamic reality operating in the field of child and adolescent neuropsychiatry: national and international reference point for the diagnosis, therapy, rehabilitation and scientific research”. The chance to present the launch of this “common path of social responsibility” was Lineapelle96, where Stella Maris was welcomed with a stand telling to the leather world area the excellence of its social-health approach. Not only that: Giuliano Maffei has also opened the eighth edition of Amici per la Pelle, bringing as a dowry to the competition “a special artwork”, made (obviously with leather) by the children of the Psychiatric Emergency Unit under treatment at Stella Maris. “The commitment that UNIC has towards the Foundation – explains Maffei – seals a collaboration in favor of children, young people and their families, that we want to represent the beginning of a journey together, hand in hand, leather to leather, towards the construction of the new Children’s Hospital in Cisanello”. According to Valter Ceccatelli (owner of Incas and adviser at Stella Maris), this partnership demonstrates “how the Italian tannery industry interprets its social responsibility and its focus on our future and that of our children: a commitment, the latter, that affects us all closely”.
