At Lineapelle 98, the “Amici per la Pelle” contest is back. It is a traditional date, at this point, since this year the event is going to be on edition n.9. Its success has been progressively increasing, year after year, with regard to participation and creative quality standards as well. Leather is young and smart then. We are about to tell you why.
About the contest
Amici per la Pelle is a national contest arranged by UNIC – Italian Tanneries, together with Lineapelle. It has engaged students attending year two and year three in middle schools. In particular, the ones attending schools located in the most important national leather districts. Over 1,000 contestants have been participating in this edition. They come from 15 institutes: 5 from Tuscany, 3 from Veneto, 3 from Campania and 4 from Lombardy.
The theme of the contest
Smart Tan is the name given to Amici per la Pelle ninth edition. Smart is a synonym for technological. Smart also stands for multimedia. Boys and girls are supposed to present a smartphone cover adorned with leather cuttings and scraps. On top of that, each contestant (either a class, a group of classes or an institute) must also make a video, one minute long, to illustrate the way they did their work and show the places and experiences from which they took inspiration. They can choose the format they like the best (interview, documentary, fiction): however, students, leather, technology and country areas must be the main characters. That is the most important thing. As we said, at Lineapelle 98 leather is young and smart.
Exhibiting, voting and prize-giving
All of the works and videos made by the Amici per la Pelle students will be subsequently showcased inside Lineapelle exhibiting space, located at Fieramilano Rho. Here, inside the fair area, people will vote for their favourite works. They will be able to do it online as well, by getting access to the photo gallery posted on UNIC – Italian Tanneries Facebook webpage. Ultimately, all students who have been participating in the contest will take part in the Amici per la Pelle prize-giving ceremony, on the agenda in the late morning on Lineapelle final day, Friday 21st February 2020.
