Della Valle leaves to John Galantic the role of CEO of Tod's Group

Former Chanel man John Galantic is the new CEO of Tod’s Group. He takes over from founder Diego Della Valle, who remains chairman of the board of directors. The appointment of a new CEO was part of the agreement between the Della Valle family and L Catterton that led to the delisting. There are many well-known names on the new board of directors.

The CV of the new CEO

For 16 years (until 2023) John Galantic (pictured) was president and COO of Chanel. He is a well-known name to insiders, as he is also a non-executive director of the Ferrari board and an operating partner of the Advent fund (source: Corriere della Sera). The decision is a consequence of last June company’s delisting. In the agreements between the Della Valle family and L Catterton, which then led to the takeover bid, there was the appointment of an external CEO. Galantic therefore goes to take Diego Della Valle’s place. “His proven experience in the luxury sector, with specific expertise on brand consolidation, will help the group increase its growth potential globally”, reads the note issued by the luxury company. Galantic, who will oversee operations, will have the task of implementing the strategy drawn up by the group to develop the individual brands: Tod’s, Roger Vivier, Hogan and Fay.

New additions to the board

Galantic joins the Tod’s board of directors, of which Diego Della Valle is chairman, while his brother Andrea is vice-chairman. Among the members many well-known names. Who? Tony Belloni (one of the closest advisors of Bernard Arnault, number one of LVMH), James Michael Chu (co-CEO of L Catterton) and Domenico De Sole (Tom Ford’s right-hand man and former CEO of Gucci), for starters. Then Luca Cordero di Montezemolo (former Fiat and Ferrari), Romina Guglielmetti (lawyer) and Nikhil Kumar Thukral (managing partner of L Catterton). Emilio Macellari (Tod’s chief financial officer) and Vincenzo Manes (entrepreneur, CEO of KME group) are also on the board.
