In France, too, unfortunately, leather goods are going out really fast. “Hundreds of thousands of euros” were stolen in Ambarès-et-Lagrave, in the laboratory producing bags for Hermès. It happened on the night between Thursday, November 7th, and Friday, November 8th. The thieves have cut the fence and covered surveillance cameras with black paint. Then they have entered the lab by drilling a hole in the wall. Here they have stolen over 40 bags of the French brand.
Estimation in progress
The blow was confirmed by local police on Friday morning. “The damage estimate is being processed by Hermès”, the police source said, confirming the information reported by the newspaper sudouest.fr.
The leak
The Ambarès-et-Lagrave production site employs around 20 people, who are in training until 2020. They await the inauguration of the new factory in Saint-Vincent-de-Paul, where 280 people will find employment. According to the local press the “leak” may have been the security system of the production laboratory in Ambarès-et-Lagravein. “It wasn’t as sophisticated as it will be in the future leather factory in Saint-Vincent-de-Paul, north of Bordeaux”.
