Moncler, up 23% for the quarter and an ex-Gucci to head Stone Island

Moncler recorded an increase of 23% and chooses an ex-Gucci employee to head Stone Island. After 15 years at Gucci, Robert Triefus is the new CEO of Sportswear Company, the company that designs, produces and distributes the brand Stone Island. Triefus will start in his new role on June 1st and will report to the BoD headed by creative director Carlo Rivetti. The former will have to design the new growth plan for the brand, which has reduced wholesale and opened more physical stores, along with differentiating its offering with shoes. Controlling company Moncler is also investing in footwear.

Ex-Gucci to head Stone Island

Moncler completed the acquisition of Stone Island in February 2021. Since then, it has changed the business and undergoing a transformation process. “In the first phase the company gained direct control of its most important markets, developing a strong culture for direct-to-consumer sales – said Remo Ruffini, CEO of Moncler group -. Robert will be a determining figure to lead the strategic development and awareness of Stone Island”.

Moncler moves fast

Moncler’s first quarter went better than the analysts expected. Especially the performance of the head brand. Overall, the group’s revenue grew 23% at constant rate to 726.4 million euro. According to the consensus, says the company, analysts expected it to be 689 million. Moncler generated 604.8 million in sales (+28%) compared to the expected 565 million. Stone island generated 121.6 million in sales (+5%) against the forecasted 124 million.
