Prada needs a total of about 450 people to increase production. Half in leather goods (about 220), then 153 in clothing and knitwear, and finally 76 in footwear. Rapid-fire hirings affecting all the production sites that the group, led by the couple Patrizio Bertelli and Miuccia Prada, owns in Italy. And that’s not all: Prada is planning an investment plan for the expansion of its facilities and a consequent strengthening of training. All with the aim of “giving the group greater autonomy and agility in responding to market needs”, reads a note.
Prada rapid-fire hires
At the leather goods factory in Scandicci, the workforce will grow by 50%: about 100 new hires are planned. Also in Piancastagnaio, also in the leather goods factory, personnel will increase by 50% with 50 new hires. All this while awaiting the construction of a new and enlarged factory. Finally, again to meet the demand for bags, 70 new hires will be distributed among Figline, Arezzo, Terranuova Bracciolini and Milan. In footwear, 76 new hires will be made at the Buresta, Levane, Foiano della Chiana and Montegranaro factories.
Respecting the supply chain
“We are strengthening our industrial structure, respecting our long-term partners”, comments Massimo Vian, the company’s industrial director. “The more than 400 hires will be strategic for growing the group in the coming years. And Prada Group Academy will play an increasingly fundamental role in our development and in that of the Italian production fabric of the sector. We consider it our duty to train young talents and keep craftsmanship alive”.
Prada Group Academy
According to Prada, over 200 young people will attend the Prada Group Academy during 2023. Seventeen courses dedicated to leather goods (trainers, bench workers, machine operators), footwear (shoemakers, finishers and joiners), and clothing (linkers, prototype makers, made-to-measure prototype makers and knitwear programmers) are scheduled to start. The Prada Group Academy will have a permanent site inside the Scandicci factory, with a leather goods school for young craftsmen.
