When two parties fight, Kering wins. In fact, the French multinational corporation will make use of the space inside the Palazzo delle Finanze, situated in Scandicci, to build Saint Laurent’s new manufacturing site. As announced over the past weeks, Richemont were interested in the area, located in Florence suburbs, as well. In fact, both luxury holdings submitted an investment bid for the real estate, abandoned for over 20 years, and nearly fully completed (85%). The French group has been the winner: they have already started an exclusive negotiation with CDP Investments (a Deposits and Loans Fund acting on behalf of FIV property fund) to settle the building location. Such is their plan: to redevelop and modernize the area, known as the Palazzaccio, to create a development centre for the leather goods manufacturing of the fashion house led by Francesca Bellettini. The Palazzaccio is a three-floor facility, made of reinforced concrete: it extends across 28,700 square metres, based on a plot of land that extends across 58,000 square metres. “All of us are focusing our efforts on a common goal – remarked Sandro Fallani, mayor of Scandicci, in a press release –; our only aim is to work out the current decay situation, therefore turning it into a valuable opportunity for development, employment, top quality and competitiveness in our area”. Scandicci is gearing up for the new fashion top player to come.
