US retailer Nordstrom doesn’t appreciate the references to prescription drugs: it’s withdrawing the Moschino collection

Last Thursday, the United States chain Nordstrom pulled one of the Moschino collections from the shelves in both its physical and online stores. The incriminating line designed by Jeremy Scott (including bags, T-shirts and dresses) depicts repeated images of prescription drug capsules. The retailer is motivated by respect for the tens of thousands of victims of prescription drug addiction each year in the USA (over 47,000 according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention). Moschino told Fox News that the whole collection is a pun on the word “capsule”. The company also said that “the shape and contents are a reference to non-prescription medicines, reflected in Jeremy Scott’s cheeky, fun-inspired collection.”
