Virgil Abloh is taking a break: “The doctor recommended it”

Virgil Abloh is taking a few months off. Or rather, the designer, founder of Off-White and head of Louis Vuitton‘s Men’s collections, is going, for some months, to slow down the intensity of his work, while remaining vigilant about the projects in which he is involved. According to Business of Fashion, his personal team explained that Abloh needs to “step down” to go “at a slower pace” than that of “constant work and travel”, also “due to health reasons”. The designer will not participate, therefore, to Off-White’s Parisian presentation, for which he has nonetheless collaborated in the design of a show “which expects some involvement of the public”.

His words to Vogue

“I was tired and I went to the doctor – said Abloh himself to Vogue -. He told me that the rhythm that I was pushing my body to, that is to fly for so many miles and devote myself to all these different projects, is not good for my health”. The designer, on the other hand, not only added to his responsibilities collaborations with brands like Nike, Jimmy Choo and Ikea, but he also accepted a place on the board of the Council of Fashion Designers of America. Now a little rest awaits him.
