Milano is the caput mundi of design. The city of Milan becomes rich with events thanks to the Salone del Mobile in Fieramilano Rho and the Fuorisalone. The city will become a fulcrum of international creativity for the interiors’ segment. So much, in fact, that every corner of the city will become a space to tell a story, express artistic pieces and creativity, all aiming to create a transversal experience impacting different segments and product categories. Milano is the caput mundi of design
Milan hosts the most important international event for the design industry. The 62nd edition of the Salone del Mobile will be held in Fieramilano from April 16th to 6:00pm on April 21st. the public will be able to visit the fair in the weekend only. 1,900 exhibitors (30% foreign from over 30 countries), slightly down from the 2,000 present the previous year. Of these 1,900 exhibitors, 600 are under-35 designers from the Satellite fair. Overall, exhibitors will occupy a surface of 174,000 square meters. The previous year visitors amounted to 307,418 (+15% on 2022): Salone del Mobile also collects sections from the Salone Internazionale Del Complemento D’arredo, Workplace 3.0 (dedicated to workspaces), Biennale Eurocucina, S.Project.
Design’s new year
“I think of Salone del Mobile as the new year of the segment. A special moment, irreplicable and unique, which marks the start of the year for the design industry”, says Claudio Feltrin, president of FederlegnoArredo. The chain currently generates around 52.7 billion euro, a positive commercial balance of +8 billion (+16.7%) and has 300,000 employees and around 66,000 companies. Claudia D’Arpizio of Bain stated to WWD that the segment in question, including interiors for bathrooms and kitchens, it’s estimated to be worth between 46 and 48 billion euro for 2023. “Conditions for 2024 are still uncertain, but expectations fall between a +1% growth and -3% decrease, concludes Bain’s manager.
