Agreement between Lectra and Kuka Home: the Chinese upholstery giant wants to get smart

China’s economy is changing, and with it the strategies of the Chinese players. Kuka Home, the furniture and upholstery group with headquarters in Hong Kong (2500 single-brand stores, present in 120 countries) that also produces leather sofas (purchased in Europe and tanned at home, we can read on the company website), has signed an agreement with Lectra, the world leader in the production of hardware and software technology solutions for companies working with leather and fabrics. The goal of the home supplies giant is to renew its production cycle from A to Z. Employee training, design and planning tools, as well as tools for prototyping and cutting leather: Lectra will provide Kuka with the full package in order to get smart. When the cost of labour and materials is growing, the only solution is to become intelligent. (rp)
