At Micam Milano 93, from 13 to 15 March 2022 at Fieramilano Rho, 821 footwear brands will be exhibiting their autumn-winter 2022-2023 collections. This fair will be an opportunity to try to relaunch the sector once again, after Covid (which does not stop worrying) and despite the tension resulting from the conflict in Ukraine. The most important novelty is the Green Zone area, dedicated to sustainability. The projects that have characterised recent editions have been reconfirmed. For example, the Emerging Designers, the Micam X Area and Micam Tales Square.

“Operators await Micam as a real moment for the business. It is an irreplaceable occasion to proceed with order negotiations. And by penetrating new markets and consolidating existing ones, we can strengthen exports,” observes Siro Badon, president of Assocalzaturifici and Micam. He does not hide his “deep concern about the dramatic consequences of the economic sanctions imposed on the Russian banking system” on Italian shoe manufacturers. The Italian footwear sector generates €12.7 billion in turnover (-11% compared to 2019) and comprises 3,981 active shoe factories employing 70,586 people.
Innovation and green power
Micam Milano 93 offers ample space for sustainability with the new Green Zone area, set up in Hall 7. The site will be the launching pad for VCS (Verified and Certified Steps), a certification brand owned by Assocalzaturifici and designed for the footwear industry. For the footwear industry that aims at the highest standards of sustainability. The area dedicated to Emerging Designers is confirmed with 12 creative designers from Italy and Europe. Hall 1 will host the Micam X area, where the protagonists will be leathers and materials selected as usual by Lineapelle and where meetings and initiatives dedicated to four macro-themes will be held. In other words: retail of the future, sustainability, trends and materials, art fashion heritage & future. Finally, in Hall 3, the Tales Square space is inspired by the Glass Slipper communication campaign.
