The 121st edition of Mipel will be held from 13th to 15th March (in synergy with Micam, TheOneMilano and Homi) in the exhibition spaces of Fieramilano Rho. Over 100 leather goods brands will be exhibiting their new products for the 2022-2023 autumn-winter season in an exhibition area of over 4,000 square metres (halls 1 and 3), double the size of the previous edition. Five thousand visitors are expected. There will be many new features. For example, the collaboration with Mirta Wholesale for digital; the Scenario area, dedicated to young people and emerging talents; the special area reserved for the presentation of trends; Mipel Square, the theatre of events and meetings.
Mipel 121: leather goods back at the fair
“The show confirms itself as a particularly valuable strategic moment for the sector and all the players involved”. In other words: “Buyers and companies, especially tiny ones, eager to compare notes with each other, keep up to date on the latest news and trends in the sector, take inspiration, meet each other, as well as do business”, says Franco Gabbrielli, president of Mipel and Assopellettieri.
Regret and sharing
Regretting the inevitable absence of Russian and Ukrainian buyers, Gabbrielli emphasises that Mipel is an “important opportunity for sharing, to keep the spotlight on our sector and its future”. Today, the Italian leather goods sector is worth 7.48 billion euros in turnover, has 4,149 companies and 32,982 employees, including sourcing specialists, had its showcase at Mipel Lab during Lineapelle 99.
Programmatic Manifesto
Mipel exhibits a programmatic manifesto that sums up the fundamental values of the sector. In other words: solid and recognisable brand identity, creativity, sustainability, craftsmanship and digitalisation. The novelties of this edition demonstrate this. For example, the collaboration with Mirta Wholesale, the event’s reference digital platform, is also present with a physical area inside the exhibition in Hall 3. Then: the return of the Scenario area, reserved for start-ups and research companies in the accessories segment, and the particular site dedicated to the presentation of autumn-winter 2022/23 trends. Finally, Mipel Square will hold events and talks of interest to exhibitors and visitors.
