Chinese customs block imported salted leather from Germany. The People’s Republic has suspended any salted leather from Germany from entering the country: as pointed out by VDL, the reference national association. The ban is only for salted leather, and it’s unknown for how long it will remain in place.
Salted leather from Germany
According to what reported by ILM, the import ban has been applied since October 19th, 2020. It’s apparently tied to some cases of Blue Tongue Virus that emerged some days earlier in German livestock farms. The ban on salted leather, then, appears to be part of the measures taken to prevent the virus from spreading in China as well. VDL reports that no formal explanation has been issued for the decision, nor it’s known who requested the ban to be imposed.
