Presented on Monday, May 30, 2022, at La Scala in Milan, the CNMI Sustainable Fashion Awards “feature and award personalities and virtuous realities that have distinguished themselves in Italian and international fashion” for a precise commitment. That reserved for “sustainability in its highest sense, for vision, innovation”. But also for craftsmanship expression. “Recognition of differences, circular economy, human rights, environmental justice”. Sustainability at 360 degrees, therefore, for an award that sees the structural involvement of the leather chain.
Tannery and supply chain involved
The CNMI Sustainable Fashion Awards 2022 will be presented on September 25 at La Scala in Milan, at the end of Milan Fashion Week. There will be 12 awards and as many international juries will be called upon to assign them. They will evaluate the candidatures proposed by one of the fundamental novelties of this edition. In other words: the creation of an Advisory Committee that becomes “an active part of the project and will make an initial selection” of the experiences of green excellence. And UNIC – Italian Tanneries is also part of this committee together with some realities of the Italian supply chain. For example: Assocalzaturifici, Assopellettieri and ICEC.
Organisational details
CNMI Sustainable Fashion Awards 2022 benefit from the collaboration of EFI, the United Nations Ethical Fashion Initiative. They are organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Agenzia ITA and the Municipality of Milan. They are now in their fifth edition, and the international jury that will choose the winners will be chaired by Dame Ellen MacArthur, founder of the homonymous Foundation “which is committed to redesigning the fashion industry”. Bottomline vision: circularity.
