Ecco has adopted Zendoo social fashion project. The Danish footwear group donates its excesses of clippings and leathers to the startup founded by Maria Marqard Radoor and Sanne Ravn Lorenzen. In this way, Ecco achieves two results. First of all, the most direct: by rewarding the sense of circularity of the leather chain, it allows waste and excess materials to live a new life. And then there is the second one: Zendoo introduces people who live in situations of social marginality to fashion trade.
Zendoo’s social fashion
Radoor and Lorenzen met in 2014. With their startup, which they define as a socio-economic design company, they intended to help children first: and what better way than to teach mothers a profession? Later, they expanded it to people with mental disorders or psychiatric disabilities, which makes it difficult for them to enter the job market. “We offer them a creative space. Not only that: but the necessary guide to prepare them for a future in a regular job, too – it’s Lorenzen’s explanation entrusted to a press note distributed by Ecco -. We do this by offering them an overall program, that aims at professional and personal progression”. Ecco take part in the mission by providing the materials.
