Cotance studies the European Social and Environmental Report 2020: first step is to update its questionnaire

A tool to photograph the social and environmental commitment of the European tanning industry, as well as to trace the progress made from 2012 to date. The path to get to the second edition of the European Social and Environmental Report, a program funded by the European Commission and coordinated by Cotance, the association that unites the national acronyms of the continental leather, with the industriAll trade union platform, has started in Brussels. First step of the project is the updating, both thematic and methodological, of the questionnaire submitted to tanners: the operation is managed by UNIC – Italian Tanneries (main partner of the project), thanks to the experience gained during the preparation of its annual Sustainability Report. The questionnaire represents the vehicle to collect 37 social parameters and 39 environmental ones identified. Tanners are guaranteed anonymity.

Work schedule

The project is implemented through Acexpiel (Spain), AHLI (Hungary), APPBR (Romania), FFTM (France), UKLF (United Kingdom) and VDL (Germany). The first preparatory meeting at the beginning of the project was held on February 7, while the first meeting of the steering committee was held on the 27th of the same month. While the questionnaire update will be ready by the end of March, the next committee meeting is scheduled for July 8. The program, which will last 18 months, will come to an end in 2020. The first edition of the European Social and Environmental Report, we said, dates back to 2012.
