The flatpack collection (in photo), is how Stina Randestad, student at the Swedish School of Textiles, was awarded the winner prize of the seventh edition of Craft The Leather. Alongside Stina on the podium, were Xi Zhe Yu (China Academy of Art), who was awarded the special prize by the technical jury, Roger Cos Mira (Elisava – Barcelona School of Design and Engineering). The final ranking of the competition, organized by Consorzio Vera Pelle al Vegetale and hosted by Lineapelle96, was decided by pondering on the votes awarded by three juries: the technical one (made of journalists, stylists, and industry educators), the social one (awarded by the largest amount of ‘likes’ on the consortium’s social media channels), and that of the visitors that saw the collections created while at the fair. As stated by the fair’s management, “Lineapelle is one of the most important international fairs for the segment, and the stand hosting the contest was very well liked by the visitors, reason why more than 1,100 votes were casted”. The collections crafted by the ten participants were evaluated using five criteria: pertinence of the creative concept in relation to vegetable tanning processes, innovative use of vegetable tanned leather, esthetic excellence, craftsmanship capacity visible in the collection, and the coherence of the latter.
