Ecco Leather opens new super green leather cutting plant in Xiamen

Ecco Leather apre in Cina

A brand new factory for Ecco Leather, which is the leather tanning division of the Danish footwear group. President Dieter Kasprzak (together with Zhang Binna, deputy director of Tong’an Chinese district) inaugurated a high-technology leather cutting new plant. The facility, situated in Xiamen, is undoubtedly going to enhance the group’s development in the area, which is property of Ecco Leather: in fact, they have been running here a tannery, since 2008.

Super “green”

The new leather cutting plant, formerly based, since 2014 to the present day, in another area of the city of Xiamen, is considered “one of the most advanced in the world, in terms of technology”. They intentionally selected cutting systems and machinery to ensure a very low consumption of energy, “optimizing the use of leather though”. The plant is equipped with high-efficiency photovoltaic installations, which are able to satisfy the whole requirements of the factory. The building extends across an area of 7,134 square metres overall. Solar panels, which extend across 4,569 square metres, generate a considerable power: 959,450 kWh a year. That is, more than three times higher than energy consumption expectedly required by the cutting plant.
