France’s leather industry looks to the future. It does so with Cuir Invest. The fund is managed by Paris-based Société Internationale du Cuir (SIC SA), in collaboration with Auriga Partners. Budget: between 100,000 and 500,000 euro. The mission: to invest in startups focused on the world of leather. Note: French startups, but also those of other countries.
How many and how
The call for bids is open to all European startups. It will deliver funds to 12 business projects, all entering the fund. The reference areas are: innovation of materials and products (example: research of new solutions in the technical and technological field); distribution and client involvement platforms (example: interactive e-commerce and AR); 3D production; labeling techniques for footwear and leather goods.
Why
“Leather’s global environment is being influenced by quick and large-scale changes. Many small and medium French businesses operating in the leather segment have the potential to develop promising technology – explains Frank Boehly, CEO of SIC SA and president of CNC (Conseil National du Cuir) -. Cuir Invests will support these actions, by strengthening the financial balance and sustainable practices of each of these companies from the beginning”.
