Japan, mission accomplished: vegetable leather gets back to Tokyo at “The colour of time, the colour of art” event

Vegetable tanned leather is speaking Japanese again. Yesterday, on November 15, they held, at the Tokyo Italian Institute of Culture, “The colour of time, the colour of art” event. A suggestive name given by the Genuine Italian Vegetable-Tanned Leather Consortium to introduce, in front of Japanese sector workers and professionals, a full day event focused on such precious material and its slow and natural change of colour. The event, which takes place in Japan’s capital city every year, aims to provide importers, manufacturers, fashion designers and professionals, who actively work in the leather products industry, with a profitable opportunity to develop their knowledge and expertise about vegetable tanned leather. During the exhibition, they presented some leather samples coming from 22 Tuscan tanneries, which are affiliated with the Consortium, along with a selection of works, made by Tuscan artists, formerly exhibited at Casaconcia throughout the year, and some collections of leather accessories created by young designers who participated in the previous edition of the Craft the Leather contest. Simone Remi, President of the Consortium, Paolo Quagli, member in the Management Board of the Consortium, and Gustavo Adrian Defeo, expert on analytical chemistry and physics of colour, applied to the leather industry, and owner of Ars Tinctoria analysis lab, gave a speech during a seminar addressed at the operators in the sector.
