ISA TanTec (also) looks at Vietnam. The leather-tanning group is currently working to develop their second tannery in the Asian country, the fifth one all over the world: aiming at that, they have already taken a land, which extends across an area of 60,000 square meters, in the province of Tay Ninh. The manufacturing plant will be similar, in its structure, to the group’s first Vietnamese tannery: “once the building has come to completion, both factories could work in synergy”. While talking to LeatherBiz, Thomas Schneider, founder of the Chinese/German group, pointed out the main reasons on which they based their decision to set up a new manufacturing plant in Vietnam. They mostly depend on an increasing demand along with a “fantastic” experience in the country, which might possibly lead to the opening of some more factories in other countries, in the next future (“in 3 to 5 years”). ISA TanTec group also runs other tanneries in Heshan, China, and in Mississippi (United States): last year, in November, they bought out Italian Scamosceria del Brenta, located in Bassano Del Grappa, Italy.
