It is a real Manifesto of Intent, and it concerns Business for People and Society. It is being drafted by UN Global Compact Network Italy, a local network of the UN Global Compact (one ofthe world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative). Among its signatories, as of today, is the Veneto tanning group Dani.
Dani signs the UN Global Compact Manifesto
The goal of the signing is explained in a press release by the Vicenza-based tannery. “By signing, we commit ourselves to strengthening the role of the social dimension in our business strategies to generate long-term value also in the supply chain and in the communities where we operate”. The UN Global Compact is a special initiative of the UN Secretary-General. Its mission is to “lead and support the global business community in promoting the goals and values of the United Nations through responsible business practices”. It involves over 20,000 companies and more than 3,500 nonprofit signatories and is based in 167 countries joined by 62 local networks.
A further step
“We are really proud to have adhered to the manifesto promoted by the United Nations”, comments Giancarlo Dani, CEO of the Vicenza-based tanning group. “It’s a step that adds to the important commitments we have made in terms of social sustainability. Efficient management of people is an indispensable factor for Dani that allows us not only to continue a journey toward sustainability, undertaken years ago, but also to guarantee company practices that promote values and contribute to the continuous improvement of our business system”.
