A new award for Presot tannery. The company from Porcia in Pordenone has received a special award for the Corporate Social Responsibility and Corporate Welfare category. This title came as part of the PerCorsiFVG2 call for proposals, promoted in collaboration with the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region. The merit goes to the shared company garden, which the tannery has created within its own green spaces, and to the related activities.
An award for Presot tannery
Pietro Presot tannery’s project concerns a vegetable garden made available to employees and their families. Employees and their families can access the garden on a turnkey basis, even during non-working hours. This aim is not 0 km vegetables, but to offer workers an opportunity to share a path of awareness outside the company’s production logic. This initiative won recognition in the Corporate Social Responsibility and Corporate Welfare category in the PerCorsiFVG2 call for proposals, promoted in collaboration with the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region.
The project
The green area is divided into prose (strips of arable land between two furrows), which are seasonally assigned to workers following a public draw in the presence of the interested parties. All the costs for the agronomic management of the garden (fertilisers, soil, equipment) are borne by the company, while each worker grows what they prefer: from vegetables to flowers. Also part of the garden is a space dedicated to rearing laying hens (which are dying of old age). The space is divided into two areas, one for hens in production, the other for raising chicks. The aim is to offer the workers, many of whom are fleeing war-torn countries, an activity for which they can feel personally responsible. Some of them were farmers in their homeland, and being able to take care of a vegetable garden on the farm is something that makes them feel “at home”.
