USHSLA launches a creative challenge in Beijing. “Young designers, promote true American leather” could, in fact, be the synthesis of the US Hide project, Skin and Leather Association that involves students from 7 Chinese fashion schools. The Real Leather Stay Different contest calls on them.
What is it?
Real Leather Stay Different is a design competition “tied to trends and leather products”. It is organised in collaboration with CLIA (China Leather Industry Association). It expects young designers to develop projects with “real US leather” as protagonist. Students will be able to make clothing, bags, shoes and accessories. The objective: “to promote the use of leather today and in the future”.
Selection and awards
The competition will take place in two phases. During the first one, designs must send their sketches by the end of December 2019. The jury will select the 45 best proposals, that will have access to the second phase, scheduled between February and April 2020, during which students will have to translate their projects into prototypes. Winners will get cash prizes and the opportunity to attend a training course in the USA between July and August 2020.
