The truth about the reptile industry: meeting at Lineapelle

“The sustainability of the reptile industry: real facts, new challenges, and future strategies”. An appointment is set for the afternoon of 26 February (Palazzina Segreteria Lineapelle, first-floor conference room, 4–5 pm) for a talk dedicated to the exotic leather industry. The event is organised by UNIC – Italian Tanneries, in collaboration with ICFA (International Crocodilian Farmers Association) and IMARC (International Multistakeholder Association for Reptile Conservation). It is open to the public, does not require registration, and will be conducted in English.

The talk will have two speakers. Riccardo Colato, a supplier of exotic leather since 2011 (as well as co-chair of ICFA’s Under-40 committee), uses his in-depth knowledge of the supply chain to meet quality, compliance, and logistical requirements. Joining him is Cathelijne Klomp, who has been Secretary of IMARC since last January. A sustainability expert, she founded the consultancy HOLIMPACT after working for PwC Sustainability Performance & Strategy and in LVMH’s environmental development department. These two highly experienced speakers will explain the growing importance of sustainability – despite what its detractors may claim – and the crucial role it plays in preserving wildlife species, protecting ecosystems, and supporting the economic and social development of rural communities.
