It’s called Master GECA, and it stands for Gestione e Controllo dell’Ambiente (Environment Management and Control). This university program is a 2nd level course for those interested in the environmental segment. The Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna (located in Pisa) has been offering the program for the last 20 years. This green program reached the tanning sector last week, by bringing its student to Zabri, tannery located in Ponte a Cappiano
Zabri hosts the green Master
Zabri was chosen by GECA Master to host its field activities, which involved “5 aspiring auditors, future of innovation and environmental sustainability”. Simply put, explains the Tuscan tannery, “an environmental audit was simulated, following the principles of the UNI EN ISO 14001 and EMAS”. During the 1st morning, “we went inside the tannery. All circular aspects and waste management processes were presented to each production department. Zabri, in fact, recovers 97% of the waste it generates, thanks to a selected and correct management process”. At an administrative level, “we verified the conformity with the laws in place and the recording approach of the department. Moreover, we checked the target objectives presented by the company and the beneficiaries of such improvements, both inside and outside of Zabri, via the adoption of certifications”.
An important collaboration
“We hope we transmitted new ideas, food for thought, curiosity and discussion points that will allow then to face their future with more confidence – said Zabri’s representatives -. We are sure that this tight collaboration with all the organizations in the area, private or public, can only be good for the segment. That’s the reason why we will always make ourselves available for these activities. We are proud to have visitors inside our workplace, within our activities. These are the steps we take and effort we focus on to create value around our segment’s public image”.
