At Lectra, in Bordeaux, innovative top speed drives competitiveness

Speed is getting more and more important, in terms of competitiveness, in the fashion industry. So they say both fashion companies and, as well, Daniel Harari, president and chief executive officer of Lectra. Aiming to help customers implement their production processes faster and faster, without losing quality nor product precision, Lectra have been currently investing in the industry 4.0: big data, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, software and machinery data integration in their French plants. During the Fashion Goes Digital, the event that took place at Lectra’s campus, located in Cestas, near Bordeaux, the French company presented, before over 150 specialists, including, amongst the others, Kering, LVMH, OTB, their Cutting Room 4.0: a new cut tool that can work at 110 meters per minute speed. Such platform is able to interface and process a number of information coming from different departments, such as design and production, thus ensuring a flawless data flow between processes, technologies and workers. The platform, which has been created for the made to order, is going to cut one item at a time, boosting speed and limiting errors. Cutting Room is part of the “SaaS” (Software as a Service) project, which is about to be launched on the market shortly. SaaS actually works in the cloud environment and enables valuable connections, in real time, not only between the internal corporate divisions, but also among the company and their suppliers and customers. As reported by Fashion Magazine, Daniel Harari has pointed out: “Thanks to such smart products we may actually help our customers reach top performances, which are essential to operate successfully in the present context, driven by speed and innovation”.
