hat’s edutainment. We are in Spoleto, for the 67th edition of the Festival dei Due Mondi (The Two Worlds Festival, ed.), a historic kermesse on the Italian cultural scene. An event that, from 28 June to 14 July, tackles – as per its mission – an artistic interpretation of research and avant-garde with regard to opera and modern music, theatre, dance and art. We are in Spoleto because, in this context, Lineapelle and UNIC – Italian Tanneries, for the second year, collaborated on a series of very special activities. Edutainment, precisely. A programme of creative workshops linked to the “symbolism and art of theatrical costume”, with a special focus on leather and upcycling. On this basis, the first Laboratorio del Sogno (The Dream Workshop, ed.) was staged yesterday.

Protagonists: Francesco Ricciardiello (Artigiano del Guanto), a Neapolitan glove maker belonging to Chiroteca Business Network. With him: costume designer (several times nominated for an Oscar) Massimo Cantini Parrini and the artisans of the Festival’s Sartoria Teatrale. Together, they set up a creative upcycling workshop (in the photos) conceived by Fabiana Giacomotti, costume historian and editor of Foglio della Moda. The project, as we read online “is part of the path of valorisation of the theatre professions undertaken by the Spoleto Festival”. The initiative, as mentioned, has the support and collaboration of Lineapelle and UNIC, which have long made the cultural promotion of craftsmanship and leather an essential feature of their work.
Leather at the Two Worlds Festival
The Dream Workshop will also take place on Sunday 7 and Saturday 13 July. On the 7th, the Festival will give space to Gianluca Falaschi, Antonio Grimaldi and Marco Piras. On the 13th, on the other hand, to close this edutainment itinerary in style, there will be Lineapelle once again, this time together with Barbara Ricchi of the Giorgio Linea leather goods company.
