Young talents in a museum context. Innovative ideas for a company with a century-old history. Intreccincantiere’s award, a contest in its 9th edition in 2023, found a new exhibitory space in Palazzo Bagatti Valsecchi (as well as a partner) of symbolic relevance: “We invited the participants, 50 from Italy, Spain and Japan, to design prototypes inspired by the museum’s collections – said Giulia Polli, executive managing director of Manifattura di Domodossola –. The next edition there will be an award for fashion schools striving to train young people”.
Intreccincantiere’s award
Manifattura di Domodossola, Piemonte-based company leader in the woven-leather segment (and 110 years of activity) has been organized a student contest since 2015: Intreccincantiere. “I complimented them more than once for having the intuition of supporting young students – said during the award ceremony on October 11th Fulvia Bacchi, CEO of Lineapelle, partner of the initiative -, as they need our support”. “Manifattura di Domodossola is a company that joins tradition and innovation”, said Camilla Bagatti Valsecchi, president of Palazzo Bagatti Valsecchi. “Italy is destined to remain a central player in luxury production – commented Domenico De Angelis, general coordinator of Banco BPM -. To do so, it must have the know-how and qualified personnel: that’s why I always welcome initiatives such as Intreccincantiere”.
The winners
The award for the Footwear category was Alessia De Mattia of IUAD, with a wedges able to show 4 different weaves. Interior Design category went to the seating solution created by Ludovica Veneziano of the Euromediterranea Harim academy. The project co-signed by Viviana Buhne and Margherita de Gregorio (IUAD) won the Leather Goods’ award, while Jiei Nomoto of the Tokyo Mode Gakuen won the apparel one.
